From 1st October 2004 the Disability Discrimination Act requires service providers to make reasonable adjustments in relation to the physical features of their premises to overcome physical barriers to access. This requirement impacts on, among other things, the external level transitions between the pavement and door thresholds and can be quickly and economically addressed by the construction of a structurally stable, non-slip ramp.
A variety of materials can be used for this purpose making it possible to use one that is sympathetic to the main structure so as to avoid detracting from its overall appearance.
